Seventy-five youths and their families lined the banks of the lagoon at Chicago’s Columbus Park alongside volunteers from Chicago Fire Fighters Local 2, Chicago Police Sergeant’s Association, Black Fire Brigade and New Concept Benefit Group at the first Chicago Fish with a First Responder event.

Trinity Oaks, a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in San Antonio, has expanded their free outdoor programs to now include children with disabilities. “Unique Kids” will be a new program offered by Trinity Oaks and headed up by volunteer Marisa Poole, a special education teacher by profession.
Knowing that fishing is the number one activity done from a boat, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources saw an opportunity to recruit and reactivate its boaters and turn them into anglers.
