CLOSURES

Whitetails Unlimited President Jeff Schinkten has announced that the Whitetails Unlimited national headquarters is closed, due to a state-wide “Safer At Home” order imposed by the Wisconsin governor, and field operations have been suspended across the country.

The Middle Creek Visitors Center located at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster and Lebanon counties has been closed, effective immediately, in response to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). 

Beginning July 1, 2014 the Coronado National Forest, Sierra Vista Ranger District, will close Ash and Hunter Canyons to all recreational shooting. According to officials, the emergency closure is being implemented due to "excessive resource damage to trees and other vegetation in both canyons and large amounts of trash shells and lead being deposited in trees and on the ground." The closure order will remain in effect until "July 2014 or until it is rescinded."

Flooding has forced the continued closure of Kentucky's Ballard Wildlife Management Area (WMA) to waterfowl hunting. The closure will remain in effect until December 19 at which time the situation will be re-evaluated.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife has issued an immediate closure to the take of live crayfish from the waters in the Yampa River basin. The order comes following the discovery of rusty crayfish (Orconectes rusticus) in the headwaters of the Yampa River. Rusty crayfish are an aggressive crayfish native to the Ohio River basin in the upper Midwest but human activity has moved them throughout the northeast and into southern Canada. The discovery is the first in Colorado.

It's breeding time again for Arizona's bald eagles, and outdoor recreationists are being asked to help protect an important breeding area at Woods Canyon Lake on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests by honoring a closure surrounding the nest area.

Because of flooding and road damage associated with Tropical Storm Fay, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has closed roads on four wildlife management areas in Orange and Osceola counties.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announces the closure of the Tennessee River at Mile Mark 333.3 by the Coast Guard as a safety zone for bridge demolition and salvage operations.
