Progressive® Insurance World Fishing & Outdoor Exposition opens Thursday, March 1

Suffern, NY- The Progressive® Insurance World Fishing & Outdoor Exposition, presented by Stihl®, opens this Thursday, March 1. Known as the “Suffern Show,” the event continues to offer some of the best educational outdoors seminars in the region. From 2017 BASS Angler of the Year Brandon Palaniuk, 2017 Bassmaster Classic winner Jordan Lee, and surf casting expert Roy Leyva to the “Deer Doctor” Peter Fiduccia, hunting dog demonstrations and much more, the 2018 Suffern Show is packed with some of the best in the industry. The World Fishing & Outdoor Expo runs from March 1 to 4 in the SUNY Rockland Community College Field House in Suffern, NY.
 
“One of the things that sets the World Fishing & Outdoor Expo apart is our comprehensive seminar schedule that touches on everything from deer and upland hunting, to freshwater and saltwater fishing and game preparation,” noted Show Manager Tod Alberto. “The B.A.S.S. speakers this year are some of the most recognized names on the tour. But we also have regional fishing and hunting experts who can provide northeast sportsmen and women with the best knowledge needed to make the most of the outdoors.”
 
Freshwater Headliners
Bass fishing enthusiasts don’t want to miss this year’s headline speakers Brandon Palaniuk, Jordan Lee and Ish Monroe. 2017 Angler of the Year Brandon Palaniuk won the Federation Nation National Championship and has accumulated 15 top 10 finishes, including four top 5 B.A.S.S. Elite finishes in 2017 alone, on the Bassmaster Elite Trails. He’s advanced to the Bassmaster Classic eight years in a row including a second-place finish on Grand Lake in 2013. Palaniuk’s seminars are scheduled for Friday, March 2nd and Saturday March, 3rd.
 
2017 Bassmaster Classic Champion Jordan Lee has collected 11 top 10 B.A.S.S. Elite Trail finishes in the short time he’s been fishing professionally. He will be defending his title at the 2018 Classic that happens two short weeks after the Suffern Show. Lee will be presenting at the Hawg Trough on Thursday, March 1st and Friday, March 2nd.
 
Ish Monroe is one of the most popular, hard-working and respected pros in bass fishing and has been competing for 19 years. He’s been successful in both B.A.S.S. and FLW events with 31 B.A.S.S. top ten finishes and 3 Elite Series wins against the best bass anglers in the world. He has qualified for the Bassmaster Classic 10 times and is a self-proclaimed die-hard frogger who enjoys flipping in heavy cover, techniques he’s sure to cover during is Sunday, March 4th seminars.
 
Other notable freshwater seminar speakers include Greg DiPalma, a competitor on the B.A.S.S. Northern Open tour, and Tony Ritter, an upper Delaware River fishing guide and an expert on tailwater rivers in the Catskill/Pocono regions of New York and Pennsylvania.
 
Saltwater Superday
Saturday, March 3rd, “Saltwater Superday,” is a can’t-miss for saltwater fishing aficionados. Captain Brian Bacon, one of the region’s premier charter captains, along with his Big Game Sport Fishing colleagues Capt. Peter Bacon and Captain Shamus Mara, will provide some of the most unique and effective tactics for canyon fishing. Shimano pro Roy Leyva will share his knowledge of surf fishing throughout the Northeast. Shore Catch’s Captain Gene Quigley is renowned for his fly and light tackle fishing as well as his inshore and offshore expertise.Captain Brian Rice will offer advice on trolling for striped bass, and Captain Jimmy Gahm of the Jenny Lee out of Manasquan, NJ will offer tips for river fishing for stripers. Captain Pete Myers, who runs charters up and down the east coast and specializes in getting kids fishing, will offer his tips for fishing from North Carolina to New York. In addition, Garmin’s Mark McQuown will teach anglers how to make the most of their fishing electronics.
 
Whitetail Lineup
Sunday, March 4th is “Whitetail Superday,” featuring dozens of deer hunting seminars, including a new deer processing demonstration by the Game Butchers that will walk through the best way to take your harvest from field to table. There will also be a variety of hunting seminars throughout the four-day event.
 
The “Deer Doctor,” Peter Fiduccia, host of Woods N’ Water on the Pursuit Channel, has authored 13 books on white-tailed deer hunting strategies. He is widely regarded as one of the nation’s top whitetail hunting gurus and will once again speak at the World Fishing & Outdoor Expo, offering tips on hunting techniques as well as developing wildlife food plots. Peter’s wife and co-host Kate, an accomplished chef and author of numerous wild game cookbooks, will be teaching attendees what to do when they harvest their deer.
 
Seminars will also be taught by Pat and Tony Salerno, widely acclaimed experts on whitetail hunting in the Adirondack Mountains, and renowned tracker/stalker, Randy Flannery. In addition, Mike and Jenn Wagner from Dusty W German Shorthair Pointers will be doing hunting dog demonstrations throughout the show.
