Shooting Sports Manufacturer Seeks Senior Design Engineer

Our client is a world renowned manufacturer of high quality products for the shooting sports industry. They are in expansion mode due to historic market demand. Accordingly, they are seeking a sharp and creative Senior Design Engineer to join their team and lend their expertise in developing new, innovative products.  

This position designs and develops new firearms from concept through to fabrication. The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for all aspects of product development including R&D, conceptual development, industrial design, function, evaluation, and release to tooling and production.  The right candidate for this position needs to have a combination of innovation, creativity, and thinking outside the box, but also have the ability to analyze, use critical thinking skills, and bring solid results to a finished product.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop conceptual designs for new, high quality firearms products based on market needs, best practices, and new technologies that can be manufactured at an economical price to increase profitability.

  • Work closely with production, marketing and management to conceptualize and develop detailed designs and specifications, including 3D modeling, drawing creation, DFMEA development and document control

  • Redesign existing gun products to improve their function and reduce manufacturing costs so that they can be kept in the line and increase profits.

  • Invent guns, systems, and accessories; pursue patent to assure their exclusive us.

  • Knowledge of and/or user of firearms products.

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related Engineering discipline. Significant design and drafting experience from within a high precision machining environment is critical to your success in this role along with the ability to quickly brainstorm new ideas, sketch, and develop ergonomic and esthetic looking forms. SolidWorks experience, knowledge of international quality standards, and good verbal communication skills are equally important. Above all, a passionate, positive attitude and love for developing products for the shooting sports industry is required.
