Canik TP9 SFx Featured in December GUNS Magazine

The Canik TP9 SFx Turkish import joins the class of highly effective self-defense choices on the market today. The powerful 9mm is not only packed to perform, it's priced to please. John Taffin details the finer points of this polymer-framed pistol featured in GUNS Magazine's December issue.

More than two-dozen factory loads delivered impressive accuracy and velocity through John's test model. He also gives the Century Arms-import high marks for aesthetics, an easy-to-operate trigger and sure grip. "The Canik TP9 SFx is designed for competition," he shares. "Just holding the TP9 — let alone shooting it — I got the urge to compete. But the gun can certainly be used for other things. With its easy handling qualities and 18-round capacity, it would certainly serve well as a house or truck gun."

Initially envisioned as a competition round, the 6.5 Creedmoor has found favor with hunters at an astounding rate, including GUNS' own Mark Hampton. In "Made For Each Other," readers will discover why Browning's Hell's Canyon Long Range rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor paired with Hornady's 143-grain ELD-M bullet creates a combination that will definitely tip the odds in big-game hunters' favor when the season rolls around.

Aptly timed for the onset of winter, the December issue notes the importance of paying attention to weather and ballistics variables for fewer errors at long range in the "Rifleman" column. If concealed carry is proving uncomfortable, Massad Ayoob provides packing tips in this month's "Handguns" installment. And just in time for Christmas, the 2017 "Shooter's Gift Guide" presents some items sure to liven this festive time of year.

Some say it feels like it just belongs in your hand, and this month's winner will find out personally.
