Interior Secretary Hosts Sportsmen's Summit

On August 2, Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke hosted a select group of hunting and fishing conservation leaders to discuss public land access and other sportsmen's conservation issues.

Among meeting attendees was Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) President Jeff Crane, who provided insight on recommendations regarding public access to federal lands. Attendees discussed furthering implementation of policy recommendations included in Executive Order 13443, The Recreational Hunting and Wildlife Conservation 10-Year Plan, which was established in 2008.

"CSF looks forward to working closely with Secretary Zinke to advance long-term goals of ensuring public access on federal lands across the country for hunting, angling, and other outdoor recreation," said Crane.

Other items discussed included: hunting, angling, and other recreational access to National Wildlife Refuges; incentivizing public access to private lands for hunting and angling; angling and boating access issues; and recruitment and retention efforts to encourage new participants.
