Whitetails Unlimited has awarded grants totaling $15,000 to the Driftless Area Education and Visitor Center in Lansing, Iowa. The combined grant included funds from WTU's Northeast Iowa Chapter as well as WTU national headquarters.

The design of the 10,000-square-foot, three-level Driftless Area Education and Visitor Center celebrates the varied topography, wildlife, and plant life of the area by incorporating observation decks and patios where visitors are treated to stunning views of the region in Allamakee County, Iowa. It also offers interpretive and dimensional displays covering topics such as conservation and wildlife studies which ties directly into WTU's D.E.E.R. (Developing Educational and Environmental Resources) Program.

The visitor center also provides meeting space for public use, recreational trails, and classrooms and group learning spaces to educate visitors on the importance of the driftless area. Admission is free and open to the public.

The driftless area is a region in the upper Midwest that has a particular terrain due to not being covered by glaciers during the last Ice Age, which ended about 12,000 years ago. The driftless area covers areas in northeastern Iowa, southeastern Minnesota, southwestern Wisconsin, and northwestern Illinois.
