S3DA Holds Second Annual Indoor Nationals

Louisville, KY - On March 17, nearly 500 shooters from more than 16 states attended the Scholastic 3-D Archery Indoor Nationals. The S3DA Nationals were held in conjunction with the NFAA Indoor Nationals at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Union College, University of the Cumberlands and Kentucky Christian University were all present to meet and talk to students during the 2nd annual S3DA Indoor Nationals.
"S3DA's 2nd Indoor Nationals was a great recruiting opportunity," said Cody Kirby, Union College Head Archery Coach. "It was great to see the expansion and increased numbers. I look forward to seeing how the tournament will continue to grow in the future."
"The S3DA Indoor national championship was a huge success," said Derek Marshall, S3DA Outreach Director. "Any time you get that many kids in the same room enjoying the sport of archery you know it's going to be a good day. With all of the equipment the kids were using, I think every archery manufacturer was represented."
"If you weren't able to attend our 2nd annual indoor national tournament, you missed a great event, said Scott Starnes, Indiana State Coordinator. "We had kids from all around the country in 1 building; all shooting at the same time and it went very well. Two things really impress me about these kids; first, how well behaved they are. I didn't see or hear anything negative out of any of them. Second, how great these kids are shooting. My hats off to the many coaches that are making a positive impact on these kids."
"S3DA has been a fantastic opportunity for both of my boys," said Connie Adkins, Mother of Cody and Cameron Adkins from Daviess County High School. "They have tried other sports but have never been competitive. They were never driven to be competitive in other sports as they have been with archery. Being a part of such a wonderful program has given
them a sense of belonging and I am very proud of them."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving
thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
