CSF Seeking Federal Relations Coordinator

The Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) located in Washington, DC, is seeking applicants for a Federal Relations Coordinator to assist with the organization's policy outreach efforts on Capitol Hill and through engagement with federal agencies.

Since 1989 the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation has maintained a singleness of purpose that has guided the organization to become the most respected and trusted sportsmen's organization in the political arena. CSF's mission is to work with Congress, governors, and state legislatures to protect and advance hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping. The unique and collective force of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC), the Governors Sportsmen's Caucus (GSC) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC), working closely with CSF, and with the support of major hunting, recreational fishing and shooting, and trapping organizations, serves as an unprecedented network of pro-sportsmen elected officials that advance the interests of America's hunters and anglers.

Position Description:
The Federal Relations Coordinator will report to the Vice-President and will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing outreach strategies designed to enhance the organization's engagement on federal policy issues. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years experience working on federal natural resource policy issues through employment by a Member of Congress or federal agency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with the President and Vice-President, develop, coordinate and implement an outreach strategy to increase engagement with members of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus.
  • As a representative of CSF, actively participate in and report on policy discussions and developments of interest to the sporting community.
  • Attend events, receptions, banquets and social functions on behalf of CSF in order to raise the profile of the organization.
  • Attend and report on relevant Congressional committee hearings and policy briefings on behalf of CSF.
  • Identify and cultivate policy and fundraising partnership opportunities in coordination with CSF staff.
  • Engage with members of the conservation community and outdoor industries to identify common goals and develop strategies leading to increased effectiveness in the federal policy arena.
  • Develop federal policy content for utilization through CSF's marketing and communications efforts including engagement with traditional media outlets and on CSF's social media channels and website.
  • Assist with the creation of donor reports, policy briefings, advocacy and educational materials produced by CSF.
  • Coordinate and manage federal policy research projects.
  • Coordinate with CSF's States Program Team on issues of shared interest between state and federal government entities.
  • Respond to inquiries from Congressional offices, including but not limited to Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus members.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree;
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience working for a Member of Congress or federal agency;
  • Understanding of and experience with federal natural resource policy issues of interest to the sporting community;
  • Active supporter of hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping;
  • Familiarity with federal agency structure and legislative process;
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner;
  • Ability to effectively work with individuals and organizations representing diverse viewpoints in a professional manner;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours when needed, including evenings and weekends;
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
