Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) Names Sauls Illinois State Coordinator

Louisville, KY - In reaction to the continued growth of their youth archery program, Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Ricky Sauls as the new S3DA Illinois State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, Ricky will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in Illinois, including tournaments, training and dividing the state into regions that will allow S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues as close as possible to their home location. Ricky will also recruit and hire Regional Coordinators to oversee and manage these individual regions.

"Ricky has been working for S3DA all year and we are excited to officially get him on board as the Illinois State Coordinator," said Michael Lundeen, National Director for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "Since he has already had a plan for the state, I expect Illinois to move quickly towards becoming a powerhouse for S3DA."

Ricky was born and raised in Southern Illinois where he started bow hunting at age 16 with his older brothers Pearson bow. He has a lovely wife of 20 years and three beautiful sons ranging from 18 to 8 years old. Ricky works third-shift at the County jail and Construction during the day for his father's
construction company and is also Co-Owner of an archery range.

"I'm excited and honored to serve in the position of Illinois S3DA State Coordinator, adds Ricky Sauls, new Illinois Coordinator for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "I look forward to working with everyone involved in S3DA. I hope to teach and inspire young kids in the sport of archery. I want to show them all the future possibilities there are in the world of archery. Possibilities that include everything from lifelong friendships to college scholarships."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
