Bobby Cleveland to Moderate "So You Think You Can Fish?" Event

JACKSON—The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks' Museum of Natural Science will host a morning of fishing seminars and fish education for anglers and families on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Veteran outdoor sports journalist Bobby Cleveland will moderate a panel of several professional anglers. This annual program provides useful information for novice and seasoned fishermen including seminars on kayak fishing! The Magnolia Crappie Club will conduct a seminar on crappie fishing, too.

"Spend the morning with successful anglers and biologists and get answers to your questions about fish, fishing, and fishing techniques. Special activities are available for scouts and families, too!" explains MDWFP Aquatic Biologist Karen Dierolf.

Participants will also have the opportunity to experience behind-the-scenes aquarium tours and aquatic creature encounters, see an airboat, enjoy family fishing education activities, and get important information on boating safety. Food will be available for purchase from local vendors.

According to the Mississippi Division of Tourism, fishing is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Mississippi. The state's mild climate promotes a year-round season for the many game fish that thrive here.

The seminars will take place in the Museum's Rotwein Theater with additional activities throughout the Museum. The event is included in the regular museum admission fee. Museum Members are FREE with current membership.
