Bowhunters of Alabama Encourage Support of S3DA

Louisville, KY – November 2, 2015 – The Bowhunters of Alabama (BHA) recently began encouraging its chapters to start Scholastic 3D Archery programs.

BHA officers and chapter members completed the S3DA training required in order to establish S3DA clubs throughout their local chapters and to assist local schools interested in the S3DA program.

Bowhunters of Alabama will also work with Scholastic 3D Archery to provide S3DA regional and state tournaments in conjunction with their scheduled BHA 3-D tournaments. BHA recognizes the need to increase youth involvement in bowhunting and has offered to mentor these young Alabama archers in proper bowhunting techniques. Bowhunters of Alabama is a non-profit organization created to foster, expand and perpetuate the proper use of the bow and arrow, support adherence to all game laws and provide bow hunters within the state, a way to voice their opinions.

"We appreciate the opportunity to partner with S3DA to bridge the gap between NASP and 3D archery in the State of Alabama for our young archers," says Charmen McAlpine, Vice President of Bowhunters of Alabama. "This combined effort will aid in the expansion of archery in the state and also help preserve the tradition of archery and archery hunting for generations to come."

"I'm extremely excited to be working with the Bowhunters of Alabama, Inc. as they have one of the premiere clubs in Alabama," stated Jennie Richardson, Executive Director of Scholastic 3-D Archery. "BHA is an incredible organization with chapters that are working in unity to bring 3-D archery and archery mentoring to the students and families in Alabama. Another special facet is they are

using ASA rules and regulations, which fits perfect with S3DA. This makes our partnership with the Bowhunters of Alabama easy and will greatly benefit all organizations."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
