L.T. Wright Handcrafted Knives Announces Collaboration with Gary Wines Knives

L.T. Wright Handcrafted Knives is excited to announce their collaboration with UK knife designer, Gary Wines. Gary Wines first started producing knives that were designed for military and Special Forces use. Through this, he became well known in the field. His knives have been used in many theaters of conflict including Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gary served as an armorer with 21 Special Air Service Regiment at Duke of York's Chelsea HQ Squadron. He is a member of both the UK SAS association and the Australian SAS association. SAS stands for Special Air Service. The British SAS has served as a model for special forces around the world. The unit has many duties including counter-terrorism, covert reconnaissance, direct action, and human intelligence gathering. The selection process for the SAS is one of the toughest in any military worldwide and the vast majority of candidates fail it. Only the best of the best are accepted.

Gary gleaned inspiration from knives used by special operations executives and British commandos in World War II. He has worked with experts in the field to develop a range of tactical and general-purpose knives specifically for military use.

Recently, he has been working on a range of knives for civilian use, specifically bushcraft, survival, and hunting knives. Gary used all of his accumulated knowledge to create knives for the outdoors. That brings us to L.T. Wright Knives. Gary has designed a knife that LTWK will make and will be available here in the U.S.

The Gary Wines Bushcraft knife will be a great companion for an outing. With its Scandi grind, it's plenty sharp for all bushcrafting needs. These are ground to zero then there is a hard buff put on the very edge to help with edge rolling and durability. Another great feature is the sharpened spine. Any time you can save the blade and use the spine for chores is a plus. This edge is sharpened like an ice skate, this will allow the user to strike a fire steel or scrape down a branch to make a tinder bundle with ease. The bead blasted resiten scales will provide exceptional grip while performing these tasks. These are attached to the O1 tool steel not only with a mechanical attachment but, also with a marine grade epoxy to ensure no moisture gets behind the scales.

The Gary Wines knives also come with a very durable handmade leather sheath. The JRE Industries sheath uses 8oz. vegetable tanned leather, a double stitch line, and three eyelets. He also incorporates a fire steel loop in the design for us, which will hold a 3/8 inch fire steel. The eyelets allow the user to attach extra gear as well. A sealed pill vial works great as a tinder stash and will clip onto the sheath easily.
