Camp Fish to be Held at Turcotte Education Center (MS)

JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) and the Mississippi Wildlife Federation (MWF) will host Camp Fish 2015 at the Turcotte Education Center near Canton June 24 and 25. The camp is open to youth ages 11-15, and its purpose is to introduce Mississippi's youth to fisheries conservation, management, and sport fishing.

"The camp is much more than children going fishing," said MDWFP Fisheries Bureau Assistant Director, Larry Bull. "Classroom discussions and hands-on exercises led by MDWFP fisheries biologists and MWF volunteers will help students gain a better understanding of fish, fishing, and fisheries management."

Due to limited space, only 20 applicants will be accepted. Camp applications can be completed online at the Mississippi Wildlife Federation's website, www.mswildlife.org; paper applications can be obtained from the MWF by calling (601) 605-1790. Deadline for applications is June 15, 2015. All applications will be ranked by quality and content of the essays. Participants who are selected for the camp will be notified by June 17.
