Custom Knifemaker Ross Tyser Recognized for Contributions to Shot Show Auctions

Aiken, S.C.-No knife maker has created more one-of-a-kind knives for the SHOT Show auction than South Carolina custom knife maker, Ross Tyser. Tyser was recognized for his contributions to the SHOT Show Auction and his efforts to support the hunting and shooting sports at the recently completed SHOT Show.

"Over the years, the SHOT Show Auction has featured some very special items including unique and historic firearms, but Ross Tyser's knives have always earned their share of the auction spotlight and 2015 was no exception," commented Bob Delfay, President of the Hunting Heritage Trust and Coordinator of the auction.

For the 2015 show, Tyser and SHOT Show auction organizers selected a Bull Elk-themed Bowie knife. "The Bull elk is without doubt one of our most majestic big game animals and we selected a large Bowie pattern to carry the Bull Elk theme", commented Tyser. The Bowie featured an 8-inch Damascus Bowie blade made of 1084 and 15n20 Damascus, with a total length of 14 inches from blade tip to handle butt. The guard was hand textured Bronze followed by a Damascus Ferrule. The handle was Sambar Stag capped with a hand-textured Bronze butt cap with an applied hand-carved solid Pewter Bugling Bull Elk.

The knife was displayed on a hand-finished Axis-deer antler in a custom-designed display case.

The SHOT Show auction is administered by the Hunting Heritage Trust for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF ). All proceeds from the auction benefit programs to further America's hunting and shooting sports heritage.
