ATA Seeks Director of Information Architecture

Archery Trade Association (ATA)

The Archery Trade Association is seeking a Director of Information Architecture to support the ATA's innovative Archery360.com and Archerytrade.org web and social media platforms. Candidates should satisfy a set of primary and secondary responsibilities and qualifications and provide full contact information for references. Some travel is expected. Work will be from a home office in the ATA virtual private network. An interest in archery and/or bowhunting is a plus.

The Archery Trade Association is the organization for manufacturers, retailers, distributors, sales representatives and others working in the archery and bowhunting industry. The ATA has served its members since 1953. It is dedicated to making the industry profitable by decreasing business overhead, reducing taxes and government regulation, and increasing participation in archery and bowhunting. The organization also owns and operates the ATA Trade Show, the archery and bowhunting industry's largest and longest-running trade show worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities:
Design the interface and experience for a broad range of digital marketing deliverables, including landing pages, websites and mobile apps.
Collaborate with writers, developers and designers to take a project from initial idea to final output.
Conduct and compile user research (including usability tests as needed) to determine stakeholders' and users' needs and goals.
Translate user research into functional requirements.
Work with the team to develop and maintain the content strategy playbook and content style guide.
Develop and maintain end-user documentation, standards and best practices (user guides and training materials).
Work with development teams to make sure that the information architecture reflects the users' needs.
Create navigational models that are aligned with the defined user experience and business requirements.
Perform routine content audits to ensure web content and assets are up-to-date and aligned with the content strategy and style guide.
Define, develop and interpret web and social media analytics reports to formulate hypothesizes and draw conclusions.
Develop and implement SEO strategies to improve organic search results and identify areas of improvement.
Publish SEO performance reports.
Publish monthly web and social media insights reports for key stakeholders.
Provide support for the entire product lifecycle, interfacing with staff in order to enumerate business requirements, address technical concerns, and assist in facilitating major project transitions.
Provide oversight for program budget and expenses.

Secondary Responsibilities
Collaborate with designers on visual comps and provide input from an information architecture perspective.
Develop, apply and maintain taxonomies and labels consistently on ATA websites, including ArcheryTrade.org, Archery360.com and others.
Tagging and managing assets and components within the content management system.
Perform routine quality assurance to ensure ATA websites meet standards, best practices and performance requirements.
Create, review and maintain UX/IA deliverables such as wireframes, personas, content inventories, workflows, site architectures and maps, specifications and other design documents to communicate design ideas.
Manage users, rights, and permissions in the content management system.
Perform regular content updates on key pages on ATA websites.
Run and adjust PPC campaigns as needed.
Ensure the content management system fully meets workflow requirements.
Work with in-house and outsourced teams to implement and support campaigns.

Mandatory Qualifications
5+ years of professional experience as an Information Architect, User Experience Architect, Interaction Designer or Web Developer, with experience in designing usable web-based interfaces for mass-market consumer websites preferred.
Understands and stays current in knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in digital and content marketing.
Understands visual design, information architecture, usability, and user experience design principles and best practices.
Experience in conducting user research and analyzing results. Familiarity with CrazyEgg and Optimizely is a plus.
Proficiency with Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics or other web analytics tools.
Skilled at building wireframes and prototypes using Adobe products or other wireframing tools.
Experience with popular keyword and SEO tools such as Google Adwords, SEMRush, MOZ, WordTracker, Keyword Discovery, etc.
Expert-level familiarity with SEO, PPC, content marketing and conversion optimization best practices.
Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
Willingness to travel.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Important Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, graphic design or equivalent work experience.
High attention to detail
Expert-level familiarity with design patterns and best practices in responsive and adaptive web design.
Able to communicate with and make presentations to industry members, ATA board and staff and peer groups.
Demonstrable mastery of CSS and HTML (HTML5/CSS3 experience preferred), with the ability to hand-code both.
Demonstrable proficiency of WordPress, with an understanding of the WordPress core software, functions and best practices. Additional experience in WordPress frameworks such as Genesis is a plus.
Experience with design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is a plus.
Strong understanding of web browsers, including performance and capabilities.
Experience in jQuery, jQuery UI, JavaScript and PHP is preferred.
Experience in ExpressionEngine is a plus.
Experience working with customer relationship management (CRM) and/or association management software (AMS) is a plus.
Proficiency with PowerPoint, presentation software and techniques.
Experience working with federal, state, county and city government agencies and staff is a plus.
Experience with nongovernmental organizations preferred.
Initiative and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency in general office software programs.
Team orientation and skills working in group activities.
Flexibility in working in a small group environment.

Travel requirements: Minimum of four weeks travel, including two board meetings, annually; 1 staff meeting, annually; 1 Trade Show, annually. Additional travel required for strategic planning and project meetings.

Compensation
Salary: Negotiable, based on experience and references.
