SSSF Distributes $2.4 in Endowment Funds in 2012 Thanks to Potterfield Donations

Shelby Township, MI - The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) announced today that thanks to the generosity and donations of Larry and Brenda Potterfield, founders and owners of MidwayUSA, $2.4 Million Dollars in endowment funds were distributed to Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP) Teams across the country over the past year.

Although the Potterfield name is synonymous with MidwayUSA, this generous gift is a personal donation from Larry and Brenda Potterfield. The purpose of the donation is to grow and sustain youth shooting programs for as many high school and college students as possible.

"Brenda and I are proud to partner with an organization like the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation and fully support getting more kids involved in the shooting sports," said Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA. "We strongly support initiatives like this because we believe we have an obligation to help change the future for the better."

The only way to guarantee the future of the shooting sports is to attract more young men and women and the Potterfields see SSSF as a major player in accomplishing this goal.

"Thanks to the generosity of Larry and Brenda Potterfield, we've been able to introduce our clay target and pistol shooting programs to more youth than ever before," said Dan Hathaway, Excutive Director of the SSSF. "Donations like this from the Potterfields go a long way in helping us start new teams, develop more young shooters, and guarantee the future of the shooting sports all across the nation."
