GoFISHn Parent, GoSPORTn, Partners with B.A.S.S. on Bassmaster.com and Future Launch of Bassnation

GoSPORTn president Ned Desmond announced that his team led the development of the new Bassmaster.com (www.bassmaster.com) for B.A.S.S., LLC and is at work on a companion site, Bassnation. The new Bassmaster.com launched on May 1, and Bassnation will go live in the coming weeks.

"The new owners of B.A.S.S. approached us last fall to drive the creation of a new Bassmaster.com to replace the ESPN-operated site," says Desmond. "We were happy to take on the project, which involved designing a new site from scratch, selecting and integrating critical technologies for the site and the online tournament coverage, and migrating all the content from the old site to the new one. The result is a more powerful and modern Bassmaster.com. We came in on budget and on schedule thanks to the teamwork of the B.A.S.S. folks in Orlando and Little Rock, as well as the efforts of main technology partner, Phase2. We are really proud to deliver this big step in the remarkable B.A.S.S. legacy."

Bassmaster.com is the largest Web site in the sportfishing world and the home base for media coverage of its hugely popular Bassmaster Classic, Elite and Open fishing tournaments.

Don Logan, one of the new co-owners of B.A.S.S., LLC, first worked with Desmond at Time Warner and Time Inc. "I knew first-hand that Ned had the experience, smarts and drive to pull this together, and he didn't disappoint me," says Logan. "We still have a lot of work to do, but we're off to a great start with this launch."

Next up is Bassnation, which B.A.S.S. has commissioned Desmond to build on the foundation of the thriving GoFISHn user-generated-content project. Bassnation will be open for all bass anglers to join and post their own photos, video and fishing stories. The two B.A.S.S. projects mark the third and fourth major media websites that GoSPORTn has built, launching GoFISHn (www.gofishn.com) in 2009 and GoHUNTn (www.gohuntn.com) in 2010.

"We're very excited about the community potential of Bassnation," says Desmond. "We have the opportunity to engage bass anglers, the number one category of fishermen in the U.S., and the 500,000 members of B.A.S.S., the number one fishing organization in the U.S., in a way that will fundamentally change the world of fishing media. Watch and see."
