January 20, 2011: InterMedia Outdoors, Inc., (IMO) the largest content provider in the outdoor category, today announced that the popular American Gun Dog television series , will be moving exclusively to IMO-owned Sportsman Channel this year with 13 new episodes. The show, which formerly aired on Outdoor Channel and ESPN, will be title sponsored by premier pet food provider Eukanuba, and the presenting sponsor will be Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear. The announcement was made today by IMO CEO, Jeff Paro.
"Consolidating and mobilizing the power of our brands continues to be a major thrust for our business. Having top brands in their respective categories like Eukanuba and Cabela's ads an extra level of credibility to the show," says Paro. "Eukanuba's American Gun Dog, presented by Cabela's, will bring even more viewers to the already strong programming we have on Sportsman Channel."
Now in its sixth broadcast season, American Gun Dog features the world's finest dogs, trainers and breeders, pursuing game across the country. None of the action will take place on preserves, nor will released birds serve as quarry -only 100% wild species will be featured. Additionally, in each episode, Chef David Olson will create culinary masterpieces straight from the field and industry experts will share the latest information on veterinary health, nutrition, and conditioning. "Eukanuba's American Gun Dog, presented by Cabela's is produced by Fischer Productions, a cutting-edge television production company and nine-time Emmy Award winner.
The series begins airing exclusively on Sportsman Channel on June 27, with the first original episode airing Saturday, July 2, at 9:30 AM ET. Original episodes throughout the rest of 2011 will air Saturdays at 9:30 AM ET, and with repeat airings three times per week across the network for a total of 78 airings.
Special features of Eukanuba's American Gun Dog, presented by Cabela's, include the following:
* Fun Dog Trials, to be held at select Cabela's locations, where customers can bring their dogs, meet the hosts of the show, enjoy themselves and learn more about Eukanuba's product, health care and training tips for their dogs;
* Each episode will have a segment devoted to dog health and nutrition, which will be hosted by one of Eukanuba's health and nutrition experts;
* A national casting call (an 'American Idol' for dogs), where viewers can submit up to two minutes of video displaying why their dog is the best working dog in America. The winning dog and owner will be featured in a December 2011 episode. Personality, hunting ability and camaraderie between trainer and dog are among the elements being evaluated.
