Eggs Aplenty At West Virginia State Parks on Easter Weekend

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Six West Virginia State Parks areas have Easter activities planned, with many including an Easter egg hunt for children on Saturday, April 3. An egg hunt at North Bend State Park is Sunday, April 4. Most activities are free or have a minimal fee to cover some costs.

All state lodge restaurants will feature Easter Sunday buffets. State parks with year-round restaurants are: Blackwater Falls, Cacapon, Canaan Valley, Chief Logan Lodge, Hawks Nest, North Bend, Pipestem Resort, Stonewall Resort, and Twin Falls Resort state parks. Times, buffet entrees and prices will vary. Overnight stays at lodges or weekend cabin rentals, in addition to parks listed, include Watoga, Lost River, Bluestone, and Beech Fork state parks.


Easter weekend activities at state parks include:

Cacapon Resort - 304-258-1022

Easter weekend activities at Cacapon Resort begin Friday evening, April 2, and conclude Sunday, April 4, with an Easter Sunrise service. Other activities include egg coloring, Easter egg hunt, crafts, and hikes. The activities are free and families, particularly children, are welcome. Tomlinson Run - 304-564-6148

A traditional Easter egg hunt is planned for children to age 12. There will be prizes and candy. There is a small fee charge to offset costs. Tomlinson Run is located in New Manchester, in Hancock County, the most northern county in the Mountain State. For time and activity location, contact the park office at 304-564-6148


Twin Falls Resort - 304-294-4000

More than a thousand eggs are hidden at this Saturday egg hunt for children up to age 12. There is charge of $1 per child. The hunt begins at 1 p.m. and prizes are part of the fun. Blackwater Falls - 304-259-5216

An old-fashioned egg hunt is organized for children 12 and younger on Saturday. The hunt is at the Harold S. Walters Nature Center and there is no fee to participate. Canaan Valley Resort - 304-866-4121

Easter weekend includes several family activities, but egg coloring and hunting are scheduled for Saturday and conducted at Canaan Valley lodge area. Pipestem Resort - 304-466-1800

Saturday, April 3, activities include egg coloring and an egg hunt at the nature center area. Guessing games at the lodge and Saturday evening family activities are planned. A sunrise service at the park administration building area is planned for 7 a.m. with Pastor Jim Martin officiating. Other activities scheduled for families to enjoy including nature center and spring nature hikes to explore the outdoors. The Easter Bunny is a guest on Sunday, April 4, at North Bend Lodge. The egg hunt is for children and there is no charge to participate. A "Hop Into Easter" overnight package at North Bend includes staying at the lodge overnight on Saturday or Sunday and Easter buffet for $99 per couple, double occupancy. The rate includes room and Easter buffet for two, taxes and gratuities. The buffet includes ham, roast turkey and carving station, many sides and Chef Ingle's dessert. Families or groups planning to enjoy Easter buffet at a state park restaurant may call 800 CALL WVA and ask for the park by name. The Tourism call center will transfer your call to the park lodge and then to the restaurant for dining reservations, if desired. Reservations are encouraged for Easter Sunday buffet.
