BILLINGS – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks staff and partners in south-central Montana have planned two free educational events in connection with Bat Week, an annual celebration held during the last week of October.
Oct. 28 Bat-Stravaganza
FWP and the Montana Audubon Center will host Bat-Stravaganza, a family-friendly event focused on learning about and celebrating bats. The event will be on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Montana Audubon Center, 7026 S. Billings Blvd., in Billings. Guests of all ages are welcome.
Participants at Bat-Stravaganza will learn about the benefits of bats and the threats they face, play educational games, explore a “bat cave,” and make bat-themed crafts. Halloween costumes are welcome. Prizes, snacks and other fun giveaways will be included.
Oct. 29 Bat Trivia Night
Join FWP staff from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 29 for Bat Trivia Night as part of a weekly trivia event series hosted by Thirsty Street Brewing, 2123 First Ave. N., in Billings. Bring your friends, test your bat knowledge, and have a chance at winning some cool prizes.

Bats provide a variety of benefits to humans and the ecosystem, such as crop protection, insect pest control and pollination. In Montana, there are 15 species of bats, 11 of which are considered to be a “species of concern” due to threats such as habitat loss and white-nose syndrome.
