Old Town, Maine Old Town’s recent introduction of the Topwater fishing kayak series at ICAST 2018 has taken the global kayak fishing community by storm.
“The launch was absolutely mind-blowing,” says Old Town Brand Director, David Hadden. “We wrote over 600 orders at ICAST and dealer and angler enthusiasm hasn’t stopped since we returned home from the show. Our factory is doing everything it can to keep up with customer demand for our lightweight, compact paddler versions—the Topwater 106 and 120—as well as the Topwater PDL, the nimble pedal-powered version that allows hands-free fishing.”
“Dealer response was huge, from the hands-on demos at ICAST’s On the Water to the attention we received on the show floor,” says Hadden. “We definitely hit the mark with boats that are lighter, more compact, and easier to transport, while offering loads of comfort and plenty of accessories and features for today’s sophisticated kayak angler.”
Old Town dealer H2:4 visited ICAST and was pleased not only with the Topwater product design but Old Town’s fulfillment schedule. “It’s great when you see product at a show and can have it in your store almost immediately after,” says H2:4’s James Whited. “And it’s already evident that we’re going to have a quick turn of Topwater inventory—customer interest in the Topwater has been unprecedented.”

That shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Old Town designed the Topwater in response to the growing market demand for easier transportation/storage, comfort, and overall value.
