Some adventures come with a bit of extra blood, sweat, and tears, as demonstrated on Sportsman Channel this weekend with its "Hardest Hunts" marathon, airing Saturday, Sept 20, from 4-7 p.m. ET. Watch skilled pros such as Steven Rinella, Mike Hanback, Curt Wells, and more endure rugged terrain and not-so-great conditions while pushing the limits of their craft in pursuit of elusive game.
Series included in the stunt include:
Heartland Waterfowl – 4 p.m. ET: Embrace the Fog. Season 12 launches with the Heartland crew back in North Dakota chasing early Canada geese. After two tough hunts, the fog rolls in-and so do the birds. Walleye fishing, golf, and good friends round out the perfect start to the season.
Big Deer TV – 4:30 p.m. ET: African Gemsbok. Host Mike Hanback hunts one of the toughest plains game animals on the continent.
Small Town Hunting – 5 p.m. ET: Kansas and Missouri Bucks. Hunting early season in Kansas and Missouri can be tough, but Keith and Larry show what it can look like when it all goes right.
Bowhunter TV – 5:30 p.m. ET: Perfect spot for a Rosey. Oregon native Josh Johnson hosts Curt Wells on an amazing Roosevelt elk hunt and proves he not only knows how to build the world's toughest bowsights but also knows elk talk, too.
HARDCORE Pursuit – 6 p.m. ET: Antelope Hunt on the Prairie. The hardest hunt all season is chasing antelope in the open prairies of Montana with archery gear.
sMeatEater – 6:30 p.m. ET: Alaskan Mountain Goats. Every year, a handful of hunters draw a permit to hunt the Mills Creek region Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. Steven holds one of the permits this year, and he and his brother Danny backpack into the mountains, into country they’ve never seen, in hopes of finding a billy goat. It’s a grueling hunt, and there’s the constant threat of losing your meat if the goat spills over a cliff—which would make it tough to celebrate with a meal of grilled mountain goat kabobs.
