Indiana: Volunteer as ‘Naturalist at Heart,’ at Falls of the Ohio SP

Falls Of The Ohio State Park is seeking new volunteers who like history, geology, nature or all three.

Whether you like working with people or behind the scenes, park staff will provide the necessary training.

Established in 2004, the Naturalist at Heart program is geared toward enthusiastic goal-oriented individuals and offers opportunities for growth through levels of certification. The program also seeks volunteers interested in helping in less public areas.

The program provides weekly classes connecting to the natural and cultural history of the Falls of the Ohio area, from January through mid-June.

Orientations will be held Jan. 16 and 19, from 2 to 3 p.m., for potential volunteers to learn more about the extensive training program. Individual orientations can be scheduled for those unable to attend either date.

More about the program is at fallsoftheohio.org/volunteer/.

To participate in our program, or if you have additional questions, contact Robert Lane, volunteer coordinator, at rlane1@dnr.IN.gov or call 812-280-9970.
