Amateur Radio Club to Broadcast from Trine State Recreation Area Aug. 23

Continuing the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Pokagon State Park, the Land of Lakes Amateur Radio Club, with the support of the Friends of Pokagon, will spread the park’s story by short wave radio to fellow “hams” throughout the United States and even the world on Aug. 23.

On that day, from 9 a.m. to dusk, the club will operate a Special Event Station with the FCC-issued call letters K9P from the Wild Turkey Shelter at Trine State Recreation Area (SRA), which is managed by the state park.

The public is invited to Trine SRA, located at 145 W. Feather Valley Road in Fremont, to observe and listen. At least two transceivers with portable antennas and multiple operators will be in operation.

The event has been sanctioned by the American Radio Relay League, the national amateur radio body.

Pokagon State Park (on.IN.gov/Pokagon) is at 450 Lane 100 Lake James in Angola, 46703.
