Build wood duck boxes at J.E. Roush Lake FWA, Sept. 14

Volunteers are needed to build wood duck nest boxes at J.E. Roush Lake Fish & Wildlife Area, Sept. 14.

The Indiana DNR is partnering with Backcountry Hunters and Anglers to provide safe places for wood ducks to nest near the FWA’s wetlands. Nest boxes will be constructed from 8 a.m. to noon.

Individuals with a wide range of carpentry skills are encouraged to attend, but no experience is required. Bringing additional jigsaws, screw guns, tape measures or drills will be appreciated. Backcountry Hunters and Anglers will provide the basic building supplies for the nest boxes. Attendees should wear long pants and close-toed shoes, and bring work gloves, water and a small snack.

Registration is limited to 25 participants. Minors are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
