Take a candlelit tour of the Pioneer Village at Spring Mill State Park, Sept. 22.
The tour, sponsored by Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa, Inc. of Mitchell, will run from 4 to 9 p.m. Visitors will be immersed in pioneer life, creating crafts, viewing demonstrations, and listening to live music. Concessions will be available in the Carriage House.
Tri Kappa members and families, along with Spring Mill employees, will be in traditional dress, re-enacting life during the mid-1800s.
Guests are asked to bring a flashlight. Shuttles will pick up visitors at the nature center, campground, and Spring Mill Inn parking lots.
The event is free with park admission. Entrance fees are $7 per in-state vehicle and $9 per out-of-state vehicle.
Tri Kappa is a statewide sorority that supports many community and state charity, educational, and cultural projects. The Mitchell chapter has sponsored the Spring Mill Candlelight Tour since 1967. It has become a popular kickoff event for the week-long Persimmon Festival in Mitchell.
