CLACKAMAS, Ore. – Fishermen can keep all the hatchery trout they can catch at Faraday Lake under a new temporary fishing rule that takes effect beginning Feb. 1 and continues through March 31 but don’t delay because this opportunity won’t be around for long.

Faraday Lake is a 25-acre reservoir created by an impoundment of the Clackamas River approximately two miles south of Estacada on Hwy. 224.

PGE, which owns the facility, plans to close the lake to public access from March 15, 2019 through the fall of 2020 so the company can make upgrades to its Faraday powerhouse. ODFW will suspend trout stocking at the lake during the construction period but wants people to get out and catch the many fish that are already there.

“This is a good opportunity to get out and put a nice stringer in your creel,” said Ben Walczak, ODFW district fish biologist. “We want people to get out and catch these fish so they don’t go to waste.”
