Abu Garcia® Booth to Host Pro Staff Appearances, Sales Promos and New Products at Bassmaster Classic Expo

Booth activities designed to empower anglers with the gear and expertise they need to fish to win.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Legendary rod and reel maker Abu Garcia is using fishing’s biggest stage to give anglers the opportunity to cash in on great sales promotions, meet their favorite pros and learn about new products that will give them the advantage in their quest to fish to win.

During the Classic Expo, the sport show that accompanies the 2020 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk, Abu Garcia will welcome some of the top pros in professional bass fishing to its booth. The anglers will not only spend time in various sections of the booth to answers questions about gear selection and new products, many pros will also be participating in meet-and-greet-style appearances, which will give fans the opportunity to meet their favorite pros for autographs. Select Abu Garcia pros will appear in the booth during all three days of the Classic Expo, which will take place inside the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex March 6-8, 2020.

Other purchases made inside the Classic Expo will also earn anglers some valuable promotional items. Inside the Abu Garcia booth, Expo attendees who purchase a Virtual rod at the event will be able to receive an Abu Garcia hat; purchasers of Revo reels will receive an Abu Garcia hoodie. Abu Garcia prize packages will be awarded via drawing inside the booth at 3 p.m. on Saturday during an event hosted by Abu Garcia pro Chris Groh. Rod-and-reel combo prize packages featuring some of Abu Garcia’s most popular products and valued at up to $515 will be awarded. There is no need to be present to win and no purchase is necessary in order to enter the drawings.

“The Classic Expo is all about the fans from around the country who come to this event because they are passionate about fishing,” said Abu Garcia Vice President of Marketing Jon Schlosser. “This brand is all about giving anglers what it takes to win on the water — it doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or just fishing for fun. The array of activities and promotions we have scheduled for the Abu Garcia booth during the Classic Expo is another way for us to show appreciation to our customers.”

A trio of exciting new Abu Garcia platforms will make their public debut at the Bassmaster Classic Expo in Birmingham. Visitors to the Abu Garcia booth will have the opportunity to see firsthand the latest examples of the brand’s focus on delivering gear that gives anglers what they need to win on the water — whether they fish for fun or for a paycheck.

The new Abu Garcia Virtual rods are category-redefining products which integrate with both the ANGLR app and wifi-enabled Lowrance units. With the Virtual rod, which is available in eight different casting and four different spinning configurations, anglers can digitally log their catches by pressing the recessed button on the butt of the rod. When paired to a smartphone, the record of fish caught, as well as the location of the catch, are recorded in the free-to-download ANGLR app, allowing anglers to build a set of waypoints to help them keep track of their fishing success and use the information to build more effective and efficient patterns in the future.

Destined to be a must-have for kayak and small-water anglers who don’t typically have electronics mounted on their vessels, anglers fishing from boats equipped with fish finders and GPS units can also instantly transfer waypoint information to their wifi-capable Lowrance units by pairing the rod to the unit and pushing the button to record the catch. Easily identified by their striking green color appointments, the new Abu Garcia Zata reels and Zata reel/rod combos will also debut at the Classic Expo, giving anglers another feature-rich and performance-driven option ideal for a variety of freshwater fishing styles. The new Zata baitcasting reels feature 10+1 stainless steel ball bearings for smooth casting and retrieval, graphite frame and sideplates for additional weight savings, Carbon Matrix drag system and a Duragear brass gear. All of the features are incorporated into a reel that remains sleek and compact, delivering features and performance at a price point previously unavailable.

The new Abu Garcia Zata spinning reels, like its baitcasting counterpart, comes in a striking, all-green color as unique as its set of features. The spinning reel is equipped with 10 stainless ball bearings and an IM-C6 one-piece gear box with computer-optimized gearing for smoothness and performance in a variety of presentations. Built around a compact, lightweight aluminum frame, the Zata spinning reels feature Abu Garcia’s Rocket line management system and a braid-ready, machined-aluminum spool as well as a stainless-steel main shaft and components for additional strength. Both the baitcasting and spinning versions of the new Zata reels will also be available as combos, with the reels paired with lightweight and perfectly balanced graphite rod.

Though bass take center stage at the Bassmaster Classic, Abu Garcia will use the Classic Expo as the first public appearance of its C3 special line of round reels, which are mainstays for catfish, striper and carp anglers around the world. Based on the legendary C3 round reels, the latest incarnation features a trio of stainless-steel ball bearings plus one roller bearing along with a smooth and efficient Carbon Matrix drag system. The synchronized level wind system gives even line lay on the spool for an even smoother retrieve. The aesthetics of the C3 have been enhanced, too, with new color options and side plates etched with pictures of catfish, striper and carp.
