Maine Warden Service Locates Missing Aroostook County Man

Earlier Saturday morning, the Maine Warden Service and Aroostook County Sheriff’s office located a missing 71-year-old man from Merrill who was stuck in the woods.

It appears that Bryce Clark, age 71 of Merrill, who was out for an evening drive last night, had gotten his truck stuck on an old woods road, and then called his daughter and informed her that he was stuck in the woods, but that he was not lost.

The Maine Warden Service and the Aroostook Sheriff’s Office began searching for Clark around 8:45 last night, and attempted to contact Clark’s cell phone but were unsuccessful. Game Warden’s and Sheriff deputies searched through the night, but were unable to locate Clark, who has several medical issues, and was without his medication.

Early this morning and after repeated calls, searchers were able to get in touch with Clark by cellphone, and Clark informed him where he approximately was, and that he was not near his truck and was very wet. Game Wardens and an Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a wooded area near the wind towers in Oakfield and located the man at approximately 7:30 this morning, then assisted him out of the woods. He was evaluated by EMS personnel and despite being wet and hypothermic, he declined transport to Houlton Regional Hospital, and was reunited with his family.

This release will be updated if any new information becomes available.
