Capt. Richard Simms New Editor of Crappie NOW Online Magazine

Veteran outdoor journalist and fishing guide, Capt. Richard Simms, has been hired as the new Editor of CrappieNOW [HOTLINK: http://www.crappienow.com/], the free online digital magazine dedicated solely to crappie fishing across the nation. Created ten years ago and now with more than one million annual page views, CrappieNOW is the unrivaled destination for passionate crappie anglers eager for new information on fishing tips & techniques, destinations, products and the latest news from industry professionals.

Owner Dan Dannenmueller recently announced that former CrappieNOW Editor Tim Huffman has stepped down for health reasons, although Huffman will remain on board as a writer.

Dannenmueller announced the selection of Capt. Simms to lead the charge as the new Editor. Capt. Simms is the owner (and guide) of Scenic City Fishing Charters, Inc. [HOTLINK: https://www.sceniccityfishing.com] in Chattanooga, Tenn., as well as a 35-year veteran in the freelance outdoor writing field. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association [HOTLINK: https://www.seopa.org].

"I have some very large shoes to fill at CrappieNOW," said Capt. Simms. "I do occasionally guide for crappie on the Tennessee River, however I am quick to admit I am definitely not the best crappie angler there is. Fortunately in my role as a freelance outdoor journalist, I know lots of people who are - or I know how to find them. The regular contributors to the magazine provide some of the most entertaining and useful information available for crappie fishermen everywhere. And best of all, it's free!"

Capt. Simms holds a Bachelor degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Management. His first job out of college was as a law enforcement officer (game warden) with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. He moved from there into the TWRA public relations division where he was the statewide photographer/writer and also became a self-taught videographer & broadcast producer.

He left TWRA for family reasons, becoming a broadcast journalist for WTVC-TV NewsChannel 9 in Chattanooga where he worked for 31 years as Chief Photographer, Operations Manager, News Producer, Executive Producer and Interactive Digital Producer/Supervisor (overseeing all web and digital products).

Capt. Simms maintains an active social media presence on most platforms (just search for "Richard Simms" or "ScenicCityFishing"). He welcomes inquiries from potential writers who would like to contribute to CrappieNOW. E-mail him at Richard@ScenicCityFishing.com.
