Heath McDonald Named OH State S3DA Conservation Outreach Coordinator

Williamsburg, KY – Scholastic 3-D Archery is proud to announce Heath McDonald as the Ohio S3DA State Conservation Outreach Coordinator. Heath will work with Scott Cronin, S3DA National Conservation Outreach Coordinator and Billy Lawson, OH S3DA State Coordinator, to provide S3DA clubs and teams across the state outdoor-related activities and education centered around conservation. Heath states, “The number one way to ensure that these kids will continue to enjoy archery and bowhunting will be to provide a mentor for them. It is essential that someone help them continue to learn more as they grow and as their interest in archery and bowhunting grows.”

Heath McDonald was raised in Chillicothe, Ohio and he currently resides in Germantown, Ohio with his wife, Julie, their daughter and son. Heath’s son, Trey, currently competes in S3DA and his daughter, Brooke, just graduated out of S3DA and now competes in the barebow division for the University of the Cumberland’s. Heath is a long-time member of S3DA, USA Archery, NWTF, Whitetails Unlimited and a lifetime member of ASA and the NRA.

Heath began gun hunting at six years old. He participated in muzzle loader rifle competitions at the age of eight and began bowhunting and competitive pistol shooting at the age of twelve. This year will make Heath’s 40th consecutive year of bowhunting. Heath has spent nearly eighteen years in law enforcement in the states of Ohio and Maine but works full-time as a medical implant machinist. Some of his accomplishments include: Certified USA Archery Judge, an Ohio Hunter Safety Educator, owner of Young Guns Archery, a Level II USA Archery Instructor and an S3DA Basic Archery Instructor.

When asking Heath what he plans to do in this new role, he stated, “Currently, my wife and I are working to evaluate and standardize archery instruction in our area in Ohio. We have been successful in working to bring organizations together to help promote and support youth archery and bowhunting. I am excited about representing Ohio and S3DA as the Conservation Coordinator at the state level. I look forward to developing plans that bring agencies, organizations and people together to promote conservation, archery, bowhunting and the increased use of public land.”
