Meeting Notice

November 9, 2020

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will host a public hearing via webinar on proposed Reef Fish Amendment 48 and Red Drum Amendment 5. The webinar will be held on November 17, 2020 beginning at 6:00 PM EST.

The Council must define maximum sustainable yield (MSY), maximum fishing mortality threshold (MFMT), minimum stock size threshold (MSST), and optimum yield (OY) for all managed stocks. These reference points are the basis for determining the health of each stock and are required under the Magnuson-Stevens Act and National Standard 1 guidelines.

The meeting will begin with an explanation of the purpose of the document and outline the actions and alternatives being considered. Then, staff will answer any questions and take public comment which will be summarized and presented to the Gulf Council before final action is taken at the November 30 – December 1, 2020 Council meeting.

We also encourage you to visit our “Amendments Under Development” webpage where you can watch the public hearing video, read the document, and consider submitting written comment.
