This Week on The Revolution

This week on The Revolution with Jim and Trav the boys will dish firearm tips and offer opportunities for getting kids and parents outdoors and to teach them basic outdoor skills. Our pro panel includes Michael Bane of “Shooting Gallery” and “The Best Defense”, Derrick Ratliff, President and Founder of Horizon Firearms and Joshua Peters, a Potawatomi Community Resource Officer. Finally, Dylan Applebaum, a contestant on “The Brigade: Race to the Hudson” on Outdoor Channel will join us as well. Jim and Trav’s Guide to the Outdoors is presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV!

Straight Shooters: How To Teach Kids Firearm Shooting Fundamentals
How old were you when you started shooting firearms?
Unlike getting a driver’s license, buying lotto tickets or voting, there is no magic set number when it comes to learning how to shoot a firearm. Some people start young and others pick up shooting skills later in life. What matters is not age but learning proper firearm safety and developing a solid set of skills that will lead to proficiency with practice. Derrick Ratliff is the President and Founder of Horizon Firearms. Not only does he build awesome custom rifles, but he also knows a thing or two about introducing kids to the outdoor world and teaching them the fundamentals of shooting. He joins The Revolution with Jim and Trav this week with some “how-to” advice for helping kids become better shooters.

Injuries, Eliminations, and Obstacles – The Tough Road on “The Brigade: Race to the Hudson”

The Brigade: Race to the Hudson” is well under way on Outdoor Channel. Ten strangers came together to attempt a difficult trek to the York Factory Express, retracing the old fur trade route dating back to the 1800’s. These strangers turned teammates are right in the thick of this mission, racing against the clock and themselves, pushing their physical limits to try and make it to the finish line in just 28 days if they want to collect $500,000 to split amongst themselves. Dylan Applebaum is a contestant on The Brigade and he joins The Revolution this week to talk about the new challenges they face as they get further into the journey. “The Brigade: Race to the Hudson” is unlike other reality adventure shows. Make sure to watch on Outdoor Channel, Mondays at 8:00 pm ET as they push themselves physically and mentally in this awesome adventure.

Recreational Pistol Shooting with Michael Bane
Warm weather can cause a trigger finger to get itchy! The warm months offer a great window to spend time at the range honing your skills with both handguns and long guns. This week on The Revolution, Michael Bane, host of “Shooting Gallery” at 7:00 pm ET and “The Best Defense” at 8:00 pm ET, both seen Wednesdays on Outdoor Channel, joins us to talk recreational pistol shooting as well as some different pistol offerings that are worth your time, semi-autos vs revolvers, tips for instructing new shooters and much more.

Get Outdoors: Outdoor Summer Camp Opportunities for Kids

With school wrapping up for the year, kids will soon be on summer break. Summer camps are a great way to spend some of that free time productively by learning new skills. There are a lot of outdoor themed camps across the country that put an emphasis on various aspects of hunting and fishing. Joshua Peters is a Community Resource Officer for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribal Police in Kansas and he joins The Revolution with Jim and Trav this week to talk about a Youth Camp in the greater Kansas City area.
