Illinois S3DA Regional in Support of Youth Archer

Williamsburg, KY – Carmi-White County S3DA Archery Club recently hosted an Indoor Regional Tournament at the White County Archery Range in Carmi, Illinois to support Kinsey Woodrow and her fight against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. All of the S3DA archers in attendance for this shoot supported Kinsey by wearing a “Kinsey Strong T-shirt.” Kinsey is a senior at N.C.O.E. and a member of the N.C.O.E. Archery Team. With her recent diagnosis, she is now undergoing chemotherapy at Washington University Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, MO.

The White County Archery range in Carmi, Illinois is shared and ran jointly by four local S3DA teams. Archers for this event nearly filled two separate line times and the spectator area was overflowing. Southern Illinois was represented very well with shooters from ten separate S3DA clubs and teams. Parents from different clubs and teams pitched in and helped all day with the registration and concessions on-site.

Illinois State Coordinator, Jim Sharp stated, “I am very proud to see such a great turnout and support for N.C.O.E. Archer Kinsey Woodrow. I would like to thank Carmi-White County for hosting the event and for everyone that came out to participate and show their support.”

About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA™) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic

3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3-D, indoor target and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA™ program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA™ students participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Students can participate at local, regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA™ addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
