Herd & Hunter: Bovine TB Connections Meeting, June 24

Join us for the next Herd & Hunter: Bovine TB Connections meeting Tuesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.

To ensure you have the latest information on bovine tuberculosis in Michigan, the meeting will include updates from the following speakers:

  • Peter Davidson, Ph.D., Michigan Department of Health and Human Services: update on Michigan’s TB Program for human health.
  • Dr. Shannon Cerveny, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development: recent developments in the TB Program for cattle.
  • Pat Ryan, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Wildlife Services: trends in deer removal and venison donation.

In addition to these updates, the meeting will feature a presentation by Melinda Cosgrove, Michigan Department of Natural Resources laboratory scientist manager. Melinda will share the results of Michigan’s 2024 bovine tuberculosis and chronic wasting disease surveillance efforts in free-ranging white-tailed deer. She will also explain how the DNR uses the data collected from hunters when deer are submitted for disease testing. If you are curious why you need to provide the specific location when bringing a deer in for testing, or who uses that information, join the meeting to learn what happens after you click “yes.”
