National Shooting Sports Month Ends With Bang-Up Numbers

NEWTOWN, Conn. — With the conclusion of the 2nd annual National Shooting Sports Month®, which took place throughout the month of August, it’s clear that the National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®) has developed a sure way to get people involved in the shooting sports.

More than 1,000 events and promotions were hosted by nearly 500 shooting ranges and firearms retailers and more than 75 partner companies, organizations and state agencies. With a robust, multi-tiered social media campaign that kept National Shooting Sports Month highly visible, combined with fresh web properties created to serve as resources for everyone from novice target shooters to seasoned competitors, the campaign resulted in more than 13 million impressions across NSSF’s various informational channels.

“The numbers are showing us that 2018’s National Shooting Sports Month was tremendously successful in accomplishing its goals of getting lapsed participants back out to the range with their families and friends, getting experienced shooters excited about mentoring someone new, and providing the resources and education for people who have never before handled a firearm but are eager to,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director of Shooting Range Services. “This is how you keep the shooting sports and the firearms industry strong, so I know I can speak for everyone at NSSF when I say we’re excited to continue this tradition for years to come.”

NSSF’s brand-new LetsGoShooting.org served as a hub of National Shooting Sports Month events and promotions, the Trigger Time Sweepstakes and countless resources for people of all skill levels. Paired with a multi-tiered social media campaign and widespread support from all corners of the shooting sports community, web traffic remained high throughout the month.

“NSSF thanks everyone in the industry that participated in this campaign, and we hope to see even more industry support next year to ensure the continued success of this effort aimed at increasing shooting sports participation,” Snow concluded.
