After Court Ruling, DEFCAD Goes Dark

In Seattle, US District Judge Robert Lasnik issued a last-second restraining order to halt the public release of 3-D printed gun files via the website DEFCAD. The ruling by Lasnik prevented Defense Distributed’s release of its CAD files under the terms of a settlement reached with the Department of State. Under that settlement, Defense Distributed would have been free to distribute their files as of August 1. A state judge in New Jersey also issued an order calling for Defense Distributed to block residents of that state from downloading files. The hysteria over “ghost guns” by anti-gun leaders comes despite the fact that under the 1988 Undetectable Firearms Act wholly plastic guns are illegal.
