Whitetails Unlimited has granted $12,500 to the Eden Valley Nature Center, located approximately two miles south of Baldwin, Iowa. The facility is utilized by educators to teach about the natural resources of the world and features interpretive displays on natural and human history of the area. The nature center is also located adjacent to Bear Creek in Eden Valley Park which includes five miles of hiking trails. Although the nature center is only open from May through October, the trails are open year round which offers great hiking in the spring, summer, and fall, and snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter months.
The nature center falls right in line with Whitetails Unlimited’s D.E.E.R. (Developing Education and Environmental Resources) program. The program consists of organizational initiatives and activities that facilitate the introduction of youth and their families to the great outdoors. This includes events, activities, and educational elements that expose participants to conservation, fishing, hunting, shooting, wildlife management, and environmental education.
The Eden Valley Nature Center is open on Saturdays, 1-4 Pm May through October or by appointment. For more information about the nature center, please call 563-847-7202.
