NAVHDA Joins the Sportsmen’s Alliance

The North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association is proud to announce their organizational membership in the Sportsmen’s Alliance. By joining the Sportsmen’s Alliance, NAVHDA members’ voices can be heard on legislative issues impacting their right to breed, train, and hunt with their versatile dogs. The Sportsmen’s Alliance’s objectives help ensure NAVHDA’s mission and its future.

NAVHDA was formed to address game conservation, prevention of cruelty to animals and the sporting needs of the gun dog hunter. Its membership is passionate about their dogs and hunting, dedicated to passing the outdoor tradition on to future generations. Membership in the Sportsmen’s Alliance will facilitate those goals by providing information, updates, and resources for action.

“We look forward to working with the Sportsmen’s Alliance and providing NAVHDA members with access to the information they need about pending legislative bills that could affect us and our hunting dogs,” Terry Wilson, Vice President of NAVHDA said. “Hunters, and the sporting community, are challenged every year by threats to our right to train and hunt with our dogs. Our opponents direct their attacks through many types of legislative proposals. The Sportsmen’s Alliance is no doubt one of the best allies we versatile hunting dog owners have.”

For nearly 50 years, the Sportsmen’s Alliance has fought to protect hunters, anglers and trappers in every state legislature, in the courts and at the ballot box. Every year the non-profit advocacy organization reviews and tracks hundreds of bills pertaining to the breeding, training and hunting of sporting dogs to ensure the interests of bird dog, retriever and hound hunters is protected.

“We know hunting and support it in every way possible, particularly when it involves dogs,” said Brian Dowler, vice president of membership at Sportsmen’s Alliance. “With NAVHDA and its membership supporting our efforts, the future of hunting, testing and training quality dogs will only get stronger and will be better protected. We look forward to working with NAVHDA and amplifying the voices and concerns of its members.”
