LDWF and Bossier Parish Deploy Fish Attractors in Lake Bistineau
In a joint effort between the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Bossier Parish Police Jury’s Parks and Recreation Department,14 fish-attracting brush tops were deployed into Lake Bistineau last week.
Catching crappie from brush tops on the edge of the channels is a time-honored Lake Bistineau tradition, and these new attractors should help keep the tradition alive as well as guide novice anglers to more crappie.
The fish attractors were assembled by Bossier Parish employees using recycled fence posts and underbrush cleared from nearby land at the Bossier Parish Camp launch. LDWF provided a large barge and personnel for deployment. This effort was the first phase of an ongoing project to add more attractors as materials become available.
The brush tops will soon be marked with reflective metal signs so they are easily identifiable by anglers. GPS coordinates of each site are available below.
