Indiana: Celebrate SUN-day at Paynetown SRA on June 21

Monroe Lake invites visitors to explore the power of the sun with a series of solar-themed activities during “Sunday SUN-day” on June 21.

All activities are included with property admission, while supplies last, and take place outside the activity center at Paynetown State Recreation Area.

Each activity takes five to 10 minutes to complete and is available for a 45-minute window. A different sun-themed sticker will be awarded for each activity visitors complete. Participants who finish all five activities will be awarded a Sun Explorer certificate.

The activity schedule is:

1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Solar Art
2 to 2:45 p.m. Solar Cooking
2:30 to 3:15 p.m. UV Bracelets
3 to 3:45 p.m. Wood Burning
3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Pocket Sundial
4 to 4:30 p.m. Sun Explorer Certificates awarded

Social distancing needs to be practiced at all times during this event. If a table is occupied, attendees will need to step back 6 feet and wait their turn or skip ahead to the next open table. Attendees are encouraged to wear a mask while participating in the activities to help protect each other against COVID-19 transmission.

Property admission to Paynetown SRA is $7 per vehicle with Indiana license plate, or $9 per vehicle with out-of-state plates.

Monroe Lake and Paynetown SRA (on.IN.gov/monroelake) are at 4850 South State Road 446, Bloomington, 47401.
