This weekend marked the 41st Annual Western Classic Trail Shoot and 31st annual NFAA marked 3D National Championship located at the Straight Arrow Bowhunters Club in Redding, CA. The grueling three day event is the world’s largest 3D competition, where many of the best archers compete every year to claim a spot on one of the most coveted podiums in archery.
Mathews Team Shooter Stephan Hansen claimed top honors in the Adult Male Freestyle Championship. Finishing only two points off a perfect score, Hansen finished the event one down from the course record.
“It was a really difficult shoot this year because of the windy conditions,” said Hansen. “Being patient and taking your time on each shot was the key to success. Having the ability to trust in my TITLE to execute each shot was the confidence I needed to perform in these difficult conditions”.
Furthermore, Team Shooter Mark Rubio finished in second place in the Freestyle Championship Senior Male division, claiming yet another podium for Team Mathews.
“Another great event for the Team,” stated Derek Phillips, Mathews Field Staff Manager. “We’re super proud of the Team for battling through the tough conditions this weekend and couldn’t be prouder to claim the Adult Male Freestyle Championship two years in a row”.
