Orvis Purchases Hill Country Shooting Grounds

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pennsylvania – The Orvis Company, Inc., announced today its purchase of the former Hill Country Shooting Grounds property in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania.

“We have been looking to expand our offering of sporting service properties for the last several years,” said Scott McEnaney, senior manager of Orvis Adventures. “These opportunities do not show up often, and we believe the Hill Country property and its natural beauty and terrain have a lot to offer. We are thrilled to bring the Orvis tradition to the area.”

Hill Country Shooting Grounds is a 527-acre property a half hour from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and an hour and a half from Washington D.C. Orvis will begin ongoing remodeling efforts to the property, including an updated clubhouse, pro shop, and redesigned sporting clays course. The company anticipates a grand opening of the shooting grounds in spring of 2019.

The Orvis Hill Country Shooting Grounds will be the third sporting grounds Orvis offers to the public in the U.S., joining Orvis Sandanona in Millbrook, New York, and the Orvis Shooting Grounds at Pursell Farms in Sylacauga, Alabama. Orvis sporting properties offer sporting clay courses, field hunts, private shooting, fly-fishing instruction, one and two-day fly-fishing and shooting schools, a retail pro shop, and membership.
