MISSOULA, Mont.—The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation contributed $5,000, boosting the overall total to $9,200, toward a reward for information leading to the apprehension and successful prosecution of the person(s) responsible for poaching three elk in northwest Pennsylvania.

In late November 2019, someone used a small caliber firearm to illegally shoot and kill two cow and one bull elk along the Quehanna Highway in Medix, located in Benezette Township.

"Poaching is egregious, steals a valued resource from Pennsylvanians and flies in the face of ethical, regulated hunting," said Carl Mowry, RMEF regional director in Pennsylvania. "We urge anyone with any information at all to call the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1-800-PGC-8001."

Pennsylvania is home to more than 14,000 members and 29 RMEF chapters.

Since 1991, RMEF and its partners completed 489 conservation and hunting heritage outreach projects in Pennsylvania with a combined value of more than $26.2 million. These projects protected or enhanced 27,137 acres of habitat and opened or improved public access to 10,189 acres.
