NASP® Open/National Tournament: Daytona Beach COVID-19 Position

NASP® is monitoring updates on the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and its potential impact on any

future event that could be held in 2020. As NASP® is a school-based program, we know our ~8,800

schools/districts will continue to receive instructions regarding travel and assembly from appropriate

state and Federal sources. Currently, we have jurisdictions that have closed their public schools for the

remainder of the 2019/2020 school year, and others that are locked out for a date yet to be

determined; based on official order.

The National Archery in the Schools Program has reserved the Daytona Beach Ocean Center and

specific areas of the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort for the week of June 8 -13, 2020 for our

Open Championship Tournament. Due to the cancellation of both the Western and Eastern National

Tournaments, NASP® is now considering various contingencies to utilize the reserved June locations

for conducting our 2020 National Tournament. This tournament would include ample “Open” flights

for any individuals or teams that might have concerns about their inability to qualify previously - due to

cancelled state events.

NASP® is in the process of contacting all BAIs that registered teams or individuals for a state

tournament by email to gauge interest from coaches should the event in June become possible and

advisable. If you are a BAI that registered a team or individual for a state NASP® event, please be on

the lookout for an email from us soon.

NASP® will announce its decision regarding whether or not we will continue as planned for our June

dates for our 2020 National Tournament on April 30, 2020. We will announce this on our website

and across our social media channels.

This June tournament would represent our last potential national event for the current tournament

season. There would be no additional events planned for 2020. The decision will be made and

announced based totally on the known health and safety information available at the time regarding

the COVID19 impact across the US. The top priority of NASP® is the health and safety of all of our

participants.
