OROVILLE, CALIFORNIA — Delta Waterfowl continues to grow, and now, The Ducks Hunters Organization has a chapter in California.

The Butte Sink Chapter of Oroville, California, formed in August behind a motivated committee that includes Hunter Walsh, chairman; Tom Rafferty, vice chairman; Bryanna Thomas, secretary; and Michael Kehle, treasurer.

The new chapter is busy planning its first fund-raising banquet for February, as well as working on establishing a partnership to refurbish wood duck boxes this winter.

“It’s an honor for us to help the waterfowl here in California,” Walsh said. “We want to focus on helping to produce ducks and on the youth side of hunting. We want to incorporate the next generation of hunters, because without them, we don’t have a future.”

Delta is steadily expanding its chapter footprint across North America, and now has 435 chapters in 46 states and 10 Canadian provinces.

Jeff Adams, Delta’s regional events director for Pacific Flyway states, is finding strong support in California.

“The Oroville Chapter is in the heart of the Pacific Flyway, and our supporters know we can make a real impact locally for waterfowl hunters,” he said.

Dr. Scott Petrie, chief executive officer of Delta, shared his pride for the new chapter.

“I’m incredibly excited to welcome the Butte Sink Chapter as the first Delta Waterfowl chapter in the spectacular state of California,” he said. “Delta contributes to California through our research and conservation programs, and we are now incredibly pleased to have an even bigger presence through the establishment of the Butte Sink Chapter.
