About Maddy Bernau
Maddy began shooting with American Trap through a local 4-H club at a young age. Her experience led her to join a local high school club and compete as an intermediate athlete while in middle school. While on the high school team, she began branching into the other clay target disciplines known as sporting clays, skeet, and eventually international bunker trap. At the age of 16, Maddy attended an SCTP Development Camp for Olympic Bunker Trap. She then took a few years after the camp to hone her skills before competing at the national level. In 2018, she quickly began making a name for herself at the junior level, winning multiple national medals and one international event. Maddy then made her way onto the USA Shooting National Team the following year. The 2020 Olympic Trials Part II Selection match in Tucson, Arizona is where she truly shined and won the Gold medal for ladies. With her win and her qualification points from the 2019 Trials Part I match, Bernau secured one of two spots on the 2020 Olympic Team for Ladies Bunker Trap.
In just a few more months, Maddy will be facing the toughest competitors in the world at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games with Winchester AA shotshells in International Bunker Trap.
