Zanders, a premier national distributor based in Sparta, Illinois, announces the retirement of veteran buyer, Steve Denning, a valued member of the Zanders team whose career has spanned decades in the sporting goods industry. Steve’s commitment, work ethic, and passion for serving Zanders and his manufacturers have made a lasting impact on all of those who have had the opportunity to work with him.

Steve began his journey with Zanders with a simple mission: to provide unmatched service as a buyer and support the manufactures who rely on the company. From the humble beginnings in Baldwin to the relocation effort and move to Sparta, Steve’s dedication and leadership has been instrumental to our success over the years. His extensive knowledge, leadership and dedication to doing the job right have earned him respect from colleagues, vendors, and customers alike.

Reflecting on his time with the company, Steve shared, “When I started, we were working with static shelves, pushing shopping carts, and using clipboards. Today, we have carousels, prime movers, and computers right on the picker’s wrist—and the technology keeps improving. Each upgrade makes us more efficient, and it’s been exciting to see those changes firsthand throughout the years. Change is a good thing.”
