Indiana: two family fishing events this Saturday

Two separate family fishing opportunities will be offered Saturday, one in Indianapolis at Eagle Creek Park, and one in Bloomington at Paynetown State Recreation Area on Monroe Lake.

No advance registration is required for either; however, the standard gate fee will be charged for entry to each venue. All ages are welcome. Anglers 18 and older need a fishing license.

The event at Eagle Creek Park is a fishing triathlon at Lilly Lake. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., bring family and friends or come alone for this unique fishing event where you'll get to try catching fish three different ways. Three different types of fishing poles and three different types of bait will be provided for free. DNR staff, Indy Parks staff, and volunteers will be on hand to assist those who may need help.

The event at Paynetown SRA is Furs, Fins, and Feathers. From 2 to 4 p.m., you can fish at Paynetown’s fishing pier (across the road from the swimming beach). Fishing equipment and bait is provided, free. DNR staff will be on hand to provide any assistance or advice you need.
